Depression and Stress

Depression and stress are two of the most common mental health challenges people experience, and they can significantly affect how a person thinks, feels, and manages daily life. While occasional feelings of sadness or pressure are a normal part of life, ongoing depression and chronic stress can become overwhelming and difficult to cope with without support.

Depression often goes beyond simply feeling low or sad. It can involve a persistent sense of emptiness, loss of motivation, lack of interest in activities that once brought joy, and difficulty finding energy for everyday tasks. Many individuals experiencing depression may also struggle with feelings of hopelessness, self-doubt, or a sense of disconnection from others. Over time, these feelings can impact relationships, work, sleep patterns, and overall wellbeing.

Stress, on the other hand, is often linked to the pressures and demands of everyday life. Work responsibilities, family challenges, financial concerns, major life changes, or ongoing uncertainty can create levels of stress that become difficult to manage. When stress persists for long periods, it can affect both mental and physical health, leading to fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating, headaches, sleep problems, and emotional exhaustion.

For many people, depression and stress can be closely connected. Prolonged stress can contribute to feelings of burnout or emotional overwhelm, while depression can make it harder to cope with the pressures of daily life. This combination can leave individuals feeling stuck, drained, and unsure of how to move forward.

At EH Therapy Clinic, we provide a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where individuals can explore their experiences without judgement. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand the thoughts, emotions, and life circumstances that may be contributing to feelings of depression and stress.

Our approach focuses on helping clients:

  • Understand the underlying causes of depression and emotional distress

  • Recognise negative thought patterns that may contribute to low mood

  • Develop practical strategies for managing stress and emotional pressure

  • Improve emotional awareness and self-compassion
